Maintaining a safe community is one of the Near Northwest Management District’s top priorities. The community is safer today than when the District was first created, thanks to innovative and aggressive programs. In fact, from 2008 to 2010, crime dropped as much as 80% in some areas.
How do we do it? Partnerships are the key. The District contracts with Harris County Precinct 1 Constables to provide four constables to patrol our 16 square mile area. These Constables work closely with other local law enforcement agencies and property owners to create a secure environment.
The District encourages commercial property owners to participate in making the area safer by using our crime-track.com web site to provide our Constables with information about criminal or even suspicious activity. By becoming a member of the site, commercial property owners can log on and see reports made by other property owners and add information to those reports as well as making new reports. Area residents may log onto crime-track.com to make reports but cannot see reports made by others.
The District also hosts a monthly security meeting where law enforcement officers, private security personnel and community members work together to reduce crime in the area.
Monthly Security meeting is held every 2nd Tuesday, 9 a.m., 7603 Antoine
