Apartment Management News
Report from August Meeting

Discussion at the August Apartment Managers’ Meeting was focused on changes in the community and what each property can do to contribute to this being a community that attracts quality residents.

Have you noticed?

Changes are taking place all along Antoine!  Several businesses and strip centers have repainted and installed new signage.  Also, when you drive down Antoine at night the street is actually lit by the street lights and business signs.  These are small changes but they show that our community is moving in the right direction.

We applaud our business owners who are making these changes and ask your help in encouraging them to keep up the good work.  When you are out in the community and you see a change has been made please make a point of letting the manager or owner know that you noticed.  Also, contact Melanie (melfahey@nearnorthwestdistrict.com) and let her know about these changes and the District will send them a letter recognizing their effort.

Thanks...

...to Park at Live Oak for hosting last month’s meeting and to the Reserve at White Oak for providing lunch.  We are always looking for someone to provide a location for our meeting or to sponsor the lunch.  If you are interested in volunteering for either please contact Ruby Glass at 713-895-8021.

Are you Blue Star Certified?

HPD Officer Chuck Bertels made a presentation on Blue Star Certification Program, a cooperative effort between apartment managers/owners, residents and law enforcement to abate crime and to enhance the quality of life for citizens within multi-family communities.  To become Blue Star Certified a property must: complete an 8-hour training course, undergo a security inspection of the property by HPD and hold a community meeting for residents on safety.  The next training session will be held November 17th at the Tracy Gee Community Center, 3599 Westheimer. To register for this training, e-mail your name, property & company name and the date of the class you would like to attend to govaffairs@haaonline.org.
